After the fourth – and unfortunately final – Winx Club magazine was published by Panini in February 2005, there was renewed hope when, in May 2005, Dino – which had already been a subsidiary of Panini for two years at that point – released the first two comic books, each containing two comics. However, these two books simply reprinted the same four comics that had already appeared in Panini’s first four magazines. According to Matthias Wieland himself, he translated these comics from the English editions.

With the publication of the third comic book in November 2005, readers were finally given two new comics, translated by Bettina Frank. Her translations of Comics 5 and 6 were later reused in the first issue of the Magic Comic special edition, published by Blue Ocean in 2008.
