Did you know that in the episode “HalloWinx” (E16, S2) are several costume easter eggs? Years ago, when the website of Michael’s Winx Club was still online, I stumbled across his page dedicated to the HalloWinx easter eggs. So, without him I probably wouldn’t even know about certain inspirations – and he definitely opened my eyes and made me understand that there are way more easter eggs than my young self would have thought!
But there sometimes aren’t only costume easter eggs but also some in the dialougues – I focus on the original Italian dub, the English dub and the German dub since I grew up with that one.
Light up some candles, get spooky and have much fun diving into the HalloWinx world! 🎃🕯️
Scream
This character could be inspired by the murderer in the movie “Scream” (1996).

Sailor Moon or Sailor V?
This character could be inspired by the manga and anime “Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon” (1992).
The mask also reminds of Sailor V who originally was planned to get an own series.

Looney Tunes or Chicken Run
These characters could be inspired by Foghorn Leghorn from “Looney Tunes” (1946) and/or the characters of the movie “Chicken Run” (2000).

This character could be inspired by Gandalf The Grey from the books and movie series “Lord Of The Rings” (1954/2001).

Madagascar – Melman and Gloria
These characters could be inspired by Melman and Gloria from the movie “Madagascar” (2005). But chances are quite low that they really got inspired by those two characters since the movie aired on May 27th 2005 (USA) and the Hallowinx epsiode aired on June 9th 2005 (Italy). Possibly Rainbow was aware of the American movie trailer in time and decided to add those references last minute?

Harry Potter – Sybill Trelawney
This character is a fortune teller and has a very collective image. But it could be colour wise inspired by Professor Sybill Trelawney‘s first appearance in the book and movie “Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban” (1999/2004).

This character could be inspired by Darth Vader from the movie series “Star Wars” (1977).

These characters could be inspired by Batman (1939) and Catwoman (1939) from the comic series “Detective Comics” (1937). Both got their own selftitled comics and movies later on.

South Park – Kenny
This character could be inspired by Kenneth “Kenny” McCormick from the series “South Park” (1997).
Trivia
In the German dub Lokette asked Bloom if this was a costume and the character replied: “No, I‘m the real Kenny.”
In the English dub he replied: “Hey, I‘m the real one.”
However in the original Italian dub Lokette didn’t even ask Bloom a question but said: “Ehi Bloom, che strano quel bimbo.” – which translates to: “Hey Bloom, that’s a strange boy/child.” And the character replied: “Levatevi di torno. Vi odio.” – which translates to: “Get out of the way. I hate you.” (I never would have expected such rude words – especially from Lokette, lol.)

Real Horror Games
The sign infront of the house says Silent Villawhile the A is the only letter that looks destroyed. So leaving out this letter it rhymes on the game and movie “Silent Hill” (1999/2006). Tecna then referres to the actual game and movie “Resident Evil” (1996/2002) and the game “Doom 2” (1994).

This character could be inspired by Samara from the horror movie “The Ring” (2002).

Doctor or Conan Doyle?
This character says that he is a doctor. In combination with his mustage and suit he could be inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) who was a doctor and the author of “Sherlock Holmes” (1887) and “The Lost World” (1912). This book was made into a film (1925) and Doyle can be seen in the first scene holding a speech.
Yet Aisha‘s/Layla‘s reaction towards thecharacter leads into thinking that he might be not a professional, trustworthy doctor. So he could be (also) inspired by Doctor Sawaru Ogekuri from the Hentai Manga “Ogenki Clinic” (1987).

Both Jelly Beans and Bertie Bott‘s Beans come with different exotic tastes but in the book/movie “Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone” (1997/2001) Dumbeldore tried one bean and said that it tasted like ear wax.
